It is the goal of Adams County Regional Medical Center to treat every patient with compassion and dignity while providing our patients with quality emergency care.
Our Emergency Department includes 13 private treatment rooms and a large 2 bed trauma treatment room designed for the care of critically ill or injured patients. Each room has sliding glass doors and full length curtains to provide patients with privacy. In addition to being equipped for patient care, each room includes a private telephone and flat-screen television for patient convenience.
A conference area is available for family consultation, conferences with the doctor, a counselor, a minister, or as simply a quiet place to gather your thoughts.
Our Emergency Department includes one room that is equipped with special ventilation for those patients with serious infections that can be spread easily by coughing or sneezing.
The Emergency Department is staffed with experienced, qualified physicians, nurses and unit clerks, who are trained to handle any type of emergency. Our physicians and physician assistants are provided by Team Health, the largest emergency department staffing organization in the United States.
Our on-site helicopter landing pad allows us to meet the needs of multiple trauma victims and emergencies requiring transport to the services of a larger hospital in one of the major nearby cities.

Patient “Flow”
When you first arrive at the Emergency Department, a triage nurse will evaluate your medical problem and measure your vital signs. Triage is the process by which our emergency department personnel determine the overall condition of each patient entering the Emergency Department and the degree of urgency of their illness or injury. Following this initial evaluation, a patient will receive evaluation and care, as rapidly as possible. While we strive to keep waiting time to a minimum for all emergency department patients, the most seriously ill or injured patients receive priority.
After triageAfter triage, most patients are shown to one of our private rooms. If we are unusually busy, you may be
asked to wait in the Emergency Department waiting area. Please be assured that the physician or physician assistant on duty will see you as soon as possible.
Visitors
Routinely only one visitor is allowed in a patient room at a time. All other friends or family members are asked to wait in the waiting room.
Smoking
No smoking is permitted anywhere in the hospital, on the campus or outside areas for which the hospital is responsible. Patients, who use tobacco, may ask the nurse, physician or physician assistant to participate in our Nicotine Replacement Program while in the hospital.
Communication Barriers
Patients who have communication barriers may request the assistance of an interpreter. This service will be provided at no charge during their Emergency Department visit.
What to expect from your visit to our Emergency Department
The Emergency Physician or Physician Assistant will review your medical history with you and may contact your primary care physician. Testing may be performed in the Emergency Department or you may be sent to another department in the hospital for testing. When your care in the Emergency Department is completed you may be treated and discharged from the Emergency Department, held for observation, admitted as an inpatient or transferred to another facility.
If you are dIf you are discharged from the Emergency Department, you will receive a copy of your discharge instructions. These instructions tell you how to take care of your illness or injury after you leave the Emergency Department. You should review your discharge instructions before leaving the Emergency Department to be sure you understand them and have a chance to ask questions.
Transfer
If we feel you require transfer to another facility, we will discuss transfer options with you and your family. We work with physicians, other area hospitals, local life squads, and hospital transport squads, which includes ground as well as air transport when arranging a patient transfer. It is our priority to base transfer decisions on the condition of our patients. We do have a helicopter landing pad on-site to accommodate air transfer.
