Nicholas Woebkenberg, M.D.
Dr. Brian James Woebkenberg is a native of the area having grown up on a small farm south of Ferdinand in Northern Spencer County. He graduated from Heritage Hills High School in 1994 and attended Wabash College. He played football at Wabash and was involved in numerous organizations before graduating in 1998 and began medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine. His interest in Orthopaedic Surgery started at a young age, but grew while at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Having accepted the United States Army’s Health Professional Scholarship, he began training at Madigan Army Medical Center in the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program in 2002. This program has rotations through the University of Washington, Harbor View Medical Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, the Spokane Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, and Orthopaedic Surgeons in and around Tacoma Washington.
After graduating from residency, Brian was stationed at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital at Fort Polk Louisiana, which is the home of the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC). He was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2008. Brian finished his commitment to the Army in 2011 and subsequently returned home to the area and accepted a position at Norris and Love Orthopaedics and Sports for his first year and has transitioned to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center where his office is now located.
Dr. Woebkenberg is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons in both General Orthopaedics and is the only local Orthopaedic Surgeon board certified in the subspecialty of Sports Medicine.
